The dream of owning your own home is just that for many New Zealanders – a dream. Ever increasing prices and a competitive market has put home ownership out of reach for thousands of Kiwis.

That’s why we started YouOwn – New Zealand’s first privately-funded organisation established to offer a co-ownership product for home ownership. We wanted to lend a helping hand to home buyers through a programme that’s easy to understand and simple to engage with.

We’re driven by the desire to see New Zealanders shape happy and secure futures for their families. It’s our aim to help you reach the goal of owning your own home one hundred percent. Our journey doesn’t stop once you have your keys, we’re with you throughout – helping you as you reach the five-year mark and beyond – as you work towards securing the whole home for yourself.

YouOwn is independent of any builders, real estate agents and home loan lenders. We are a privately funded programme. That means there is no income cap or eligibility criteria specified by the government. We welcome everybody who’s interested in co-ownership with us, but it’s our philosophy to give preference to first home buyers.

YouOwn is registered on the Financial Service Providers Register (Registration number FSP 761911).  We are a member of Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme which is an approved dispute resolution scheme.
